President Trump recently had met with Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, in the White House. They had what many categorized as a very awkward visit, with them not shaking hands, among many other things.

Trump has been very aggressive towards his NATO allies, often saying that they must put more money into defense, which leads to more and more speculation by the American people of his alleged “Russia ties”.

It is reported by The Times Of London that Trump’s staff had created an “invoice” and handed it to Angela Merkel while she was visiting the White House. The invoice was one of 300 billion euros.

“The concept behind putting out such demands is to intimidate the other side, but the chancellor took it calmly and will not respond to such provocations,” a German minister told the newspaper.

It seems that Trump’s act of giving the invoice is an attempt to increase tension and aggression, but according to the German minister, Merkel will not respond to such acts of aggression.

The White House claims differently, they asserted that this “invoice” was never given and that it is a false story.

Trump has continued to assert that the NATO allies must contribute 2 percent of their GDP, and constantly speaks of how important it is for the countries to contribute.

Many Americans are very skeptical of Trump’s lack of understanding of NATO as exhibited in his tweets, and they find it to be suspicious that he seems to be very aggressive towards his NATO allies.
